1 Remember That Rock Climbing Is Risky
I don’t quite agree with the “rock climbing” attributed to extreme sports. At least the most familiar sports rock climbing is not the case. With the protection of modern climbing equipment and rock climbing skills, sports climbing is quite safe. In my opinion，climbing is safer than driving. Probably, you are more likely to be in a car accident on the road than to be killed in rock climbing. Of course, the premise is that the climber knows what he is doing. If you don’t know, rock climbing, which takes you to a tens of meters high rock wall, can be fatal.
2. Find Your Trusted Tutor
Ideally, everyone’s first wild climb is to be carried out under the guidance of a professional. Like the first scuba diving, it is impossible to jump into the sea with the equipment. But in reality, most people think that rock climbing is easier than diving，even if they don’t know how the pioneers dare to hold the rope and hang it directly.
If it is not convenient to go to class, then go to the rock museum to meet the rock climbers. You should find an experienced mentor to take you there. This is not only about the safety of the first wild climb, but also develops correct and safe habits from the beginning, and reduces the possibility of making mistakes in the future.

3. Don’t Be Avant-garde
Don’t plan to go out for the first time, start with the top rope. Sometimes the top rope in the wild is different from the rock museum. A section of the rope in the rock museum hangs down. You can only climb up after you fasten the rope. In the wild, sometimes the climbing guide will help you hang the top rope which is buckled all the way. When it is your turn to climb the top rope, you have to climb and untie the rope that is fastened. Many people have forgotten this and found that crawling can’t move. Don’t untie the rope from the hanging point or the thread lock on the fixed point! That would be very dangerous.
It is normal that you will experience the first top rope in the wild. You should remember not to catch the hanging piece. Don’t catch the hanging and the rope. The top rope cannot fall far. Just keep relax and learn to trusted equipment.

4. Equipment Is Still Necessary
Compared with the rock bouldering, wild climbing needs more equipment: climbing rope, hanging, seat belt, climbing helmet, protector, etc. You should prepare your climbing kit before you go to the wild.
In the case of a top rope only, the equipment can be streamlined into a seat belt and a climbing helmet. It is recommended to get started with a full set of equipment. Self-sufficient newcomers are always more popular.

5. Be Sure to Ask Clearly
Rock climbing has a lot of terminology and skills, but don’t be shy when you don’t understand it, even if you ask. Rock climbers are keen to help newcomers because everyone has experienced this stage.
I don’t know how to dress up when climbing. For example, if you don’t clean up the fixed points, don’t ask others to practice well below, or don’t do it. Don’t make sure that you can honestly say it. Please be responsible for yourself and the lives of others.
